The Plaque Wall
Honoring the Bluebirds who built Kenwood athletics
The Kenwood High School Athletics Hall of Fame enshrines the athletes, coaches, and championship teams whose excellence carried the Bluebird name — class by class, since 2007. This is the record of that wall.
The Founding
How the Hall Began
A proposal in 2007
In 2007, two Kenwood coaches — Lefty Elliott and Carroll Hess — proposed an Athletics Hall of Fame to Athletic Director Derek Maki, who led Kenwood athletics from 2001 to 2014. A committee formed around the idea, and the first class was enshrined that same year.
The Hall has grown class by class ever since, and the wall now holds 177 names — individual athletes alongside six championship teams. There was no class in 2020.
Both founders stand on the wall themselves: Elliott and Hess were members of the inaugural Class of 2007, and Maki was enshrined with the Class of 2019.

Rivers died on January 20, 2006, at the age of twenty. Twenty years later, on October 8, 2026, he was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame with the Class of 2026 — presented as the final award of the ceremony.
